A rather effective method of improving the golf swing is by adding extra weight to the club and then going through the motions of swinging.

This sort of exercise has many advantages apart from the fact that it is very golf specific and works on building the exact muscles you use during a golf swing or drive.

The other reason why extra weight on the club dramatically improves any golf swing is because the whole swing movement usually feels very unnatural to the body.

Fit Balls, Swiss Balls, Physio Balls and Exercise Balls! Call them what you will, we all know what you re talking about - those big blow up balls of different sizes and colours you have always wanted to try but never had the chance. They are becoming a favoured tool of the personal trainer, the must have piece of equipment for the home studio, and an essential item for complete programming for the development of core strength and reduction and termination of lower back pain.

Because of a sedentary lifestyle, most people have poor posture. The muscles of the trunk are no longer able to support the body in the most efficient way possible. Because of external
 C.O.G. = Consistency
...jargon, references to Touring Professionals golf swings, miracle gadgets for sale, or quick band-aid solutions, this is not the program for you. C.O.G. golf is an improvement program that is easy to understand, easy to implement, easy to remember, and ...
support from a chair, couch, car seat, etc., the neuromuscular system has “forgotten” how to maintain posture easily and efficiently. This usually leads to breakdown, pain and dysfunction.

I have found that using a Fit ball is a very effective way to correct postural alignment. Exercises on the ball can be very mild or extremely challenging depending on the needs of the client. By balancing on the ball, the client now has no other support to rely on except his or her own body. The body will automatically call on the righting and equilibrium responses, facilitating a coordinated effort of the postural muscles. The client unconsciously finds a way to balance on the ball with the least amount of muscle
Do You Understand Golf Club Swing Weight
...to the club and then going through the motions of swinging. This sort of exercise has many advantages apart from the fact that it is very golf specific and works on building the exact muscles you use during a golf ...
use possible, therefore reinforcing positive movement patterns.

Fit Balls are one of the most effective exercise tools to improve and develop spinal, pelvic and shoulder girdle stability. Total core stability is achieved along with improved posture and an increased awareness of your own body the way it moves and the way it is designed to move. An enhanced kinesthetic sense is discovered and refined, allowing you to feel your own actions and be able to adjust incorrect positions and movements performed throughout the exercises.

Fit Balls add variety to create new and challenging demands on the body in a number of different planes. Just about any exercise done in the gym can be
 Golf Training and Fitness
...etc; each one of them trying to contribute a little more value to the game of the golf enthusiast.

 C.O.G. = Consistency
...I always found, any golfer having problems with consistency can easily be hitting solid golf shots time after time simply by understanding the consistency triangle and how to control it. The consistency triangle can be controlled quite easily once you ...
support from a chair, couch, car seat, etc., the neuromuscular system has “forgotten” how to maintain posture easily and efficiently.

Imagine hitting your driver farther in your 40 s than when you were in your 20 s!

I imagine a few of you are saying, No way!

Read this article to be convinced otherwise. I received an e-mail from one of our BioForce Golf subscribers about the amazing change in his clubhead speed.

He wrote in about how excited he was that his clubhead speed had improved to a speed higher than when he was in his early twenties! He stated that currently his clubhead speed is between 105-107 mph, and in his twenties it was 95-100 mph. Go figure!

He related his increased driving distance and clubhead speed to a golf fitness program, a program with
Functional Fitness Training with Fit Balls
...an essential item for complete programming for the development of core strength and reduction and termination of lower back pain. Because of a sedentary lifestyle, most people have poor posture. The muscles of the trunk are no longer able to ...
exercises specific to improving his golf swing. Not a traditional, pump-the-iron program, but one that promotes a more efficient and powerful golf swing.

He stated that since he implemented a golf fitness program, his flexibility, strength, and power have all increased.

As a result of this newfound bottle of youth, he is hitting the golf ball farther, lowering his scores, and enjoying the game of golf more.

The question to ask is, How do improved flexibility, strength, and power relate to increased clubhead speed?

First and foremost, we must understand a very important principle. The principle revolves around what actually swings the golf club.

Is it your body swinging the club or the club swinging your
 C.O.G. = Consistency
...be, it was my Father, Gerard Joe Bernard an outstanding athlete in many sports who taught me to break things down to their simplest form in order to really understand what was happening so I could work to improve quickly. ...
body?

Obviously, the answer is that your body swings the club. Keeping that statement in mind, we can safely say it is a combination of two entities that creates clubhead speed.

What two entities do you think I am talking about? They are your golf swing mechanics and your body.

Swing mechanics have an effect on clubhead speed. Optimal swing mechanics develop greater clubhead speed than poor swing mechanics. If you do not believe me, try this little experiment.

Go to the range and pull out your driver. On your first swing, swing smoothly and in control. On your second swing, swing as hard as you can! Which golf ball went farther? I am guessing the first one.

This little
Do You Understand Golf Club Swing Weight
...with juniors. Maybe this is a little too exaggerated but the point is that with such a mobile piece of useful golf equipment, there is no limit to where or when you can practice your swing with it. Either in ...
experiment just goes to show that the mechanics of your swing have an effect on clubhead speed and distance.

Bottom line on the swing mechanics side of the equation, the more efficient your golf swing mechanics are the greater amount of clubhead speed you will be able to generate.

Now, on to the second part of the equation, your body.

The body supports your golf swing mechanics. If your body does not have the flexibility, strength, or power to swing the golf club efficiently, the ability to generate clubhead speed will be compromised.

And if your body is inflexible, weak, and lacking the potential to generate power, clubhead speed will be a difficult entity to create.

Applying the idea of
 Golf Training and Fitness
...Regular fitness workout and golf-specific workouts are different. If the clubhead is moving faster at impact with the golf ball, what does this tell us about the golfer?

The golfer is more powerful, and the ball will probably travel farther.

How can a golf fitness program increase the power production in your swing?

Increasing your flexibility allows you to perform the mechanics of the golf swing more efficiently opening the door for improved clubhead speed.

Increasing your strength and power levels around the golf swing allows your body the potential to generate greater amounts of clubhead speed.

Put these entities together with your efficient golf swing mechanics and you will find increased clubhead speed in your golf game.

Are You Too Old For Golf Fitness Workouts
...requirements of the game of golf. The dumbbells are usually used for strength training because this is the most efficient equipment anywhere for building strength quickly hence their inclusion in the best golf fitness workout routines. The idea is never ...
Now, aging presents a very interesting situation. As you age, the natural levels of flexibility, strength, and power decrease.

Yes, as you get older the body slows down. The slowing down has an effect on your golf swing.

You do not have the flexibility to perform the mechanics of the golf swing. The lowers levels of strength and power decrease the ability to generate clubhead speed.

In order to reverse the effects of aging and improve your clubhead speed, you need to implement a golf fitness program.

A golf fitness program can slow the hands of time, improve your flexibility, increase the strength within the body, and improve your power outputs. You essentially become an ageless golfer.

Some PGA Tour players have been playing for a couple of weeks in Hawaii and California. Others like Vijay and Ernie have been playing on the European Tour. Regardless of how many tournaments the pros have played this year, they have been working on their games for more time than most of us realize. Make no mistake about it: in golf or baseball, football, basketball or any other pro sport there is no longer an off-season.

The PGA Tour season is one of the longest in sports and even though they may not play every week, it s very taxing on the body and the time off is essential to ensure positive results when we begin training for the next season.

If you are lucky enough to live in a region you can play golf year around, a couple short sessions at the range every week is a good idea. I would recommend the range sessions be kept short and focused on fixing the problem areas in your golf swing. The important point is the off-season is a time the amateur can take advantage of working on both their bodies and their golf swing

The pre-season for the amateur marks the time of year when the snow is beginning to melt and the itch to play golf comes around. I would suggest the amateur follow a similar program as the professional during this
Fair Challenge For The Average Golfer
...natural wonder golfer like Tiger Woods when he won the U. Start spending more time at the range. Working on all aspects of your golf game. Continue with your golf fitness program, but you may want to back off it a little as a result of the increased practice time. Again, keep in mind the body swings the golf club and we must keep the body in shape to do so.

The pre-season program of increased golf practice and a little less golf fitness continues with the professional golfer until their first tournament. This marks the point when we shift to an in-season golf fitness program. The golf fitness exercises don t stop, but we back off on the intensity. The program doesn t change much. We re
To Increase Your Driving Distance In Golf - Swing Speed Is Important
...aids on the television promising rapid increases in your golf swing speed.
Essentially, the amateur can pretty much stick to pre-season volume of golf fitness training unless they are playing quite a bit. Just make sure the right balance of golf fitness training is in place in relation to your golf practice and playing. This is necessary so that you do not physically over-tax the body. Bottom line if you are looking to keep your golf game in shape and improving year around, I recommend following what the pros do; take a break at the end of the season, implement a golf fitness program, work on your swing faults during the winter, increase your practice time at the range before the season, and during the season keep a good balance of
How to Prevent Your Golf Swing from Breaking Down with Golf Fitness Exercises
...situation? Through proper instruction from a qualified teacher is the first part of this equation. A qualified teaching pro will be able to diagnose the problem and provide you guidance on how to fix it.

I don’t have to do much convincing to tell you that golf fitness can have a profound impact on one’s game. Just look at the top golfers in the world and tell me what kind of shape they’re in. There’s your proof. This article will discuss the side effects, or side benefits in this case, of how playing golf, and sticking to a normal fitness routine can benefit facets of your life other than your scorecard, your golf scorecard that is.

Alright let’s start by looking at what kind of attributes your body will have when you have achieved a high level of golf fitness. First of all, you’re going to be more flexible than
Keep Your Golf Swing in Shape All Year with a Golf Fitness Program
...of the year (usually the winter when snow is on the ground) can implement a golf fitness program. A golf fitness program will entail developing the physical capacities of the body around the golf swing. The program will look to ...
95% of the people on the planet (slight exaggeration, but you will be extremely flexible). Being flexible simply means you can move better. How bout this for an example. Ever have to look over your shoulder to check your blind spot in your car? Well, its a lot easier to do when you’re flexible enough to just turn, rather than having to lift off the seat and rotate. That’s just the tip of the golf fitness benefits iceberg.

How about added core strength. Ever hear of old man Earl across the street who threw his back out pouring a bowl of cereal. Well, as long as you keep those core muscles strong, your
A Golf Fitness Program to Improve Your Clubhead Speed
...speed and distance. Bottom line on the swing mechanics side of the equation, the more efficient your golf swing mechanics are the greater amount of clubhead speed you will be able to generate. Now, on to the second part of ...
risk of a back injury dramatically decreases. Not to mention you’ll have rock hard abs, always a plus. How’s that for a confidence boost?

Speaking of confidence, imagine how showing off your cut bod on your morning jog is going to make you feel. Do you see all of those looks you’re getting. It’s not because you have a stain on your shirt, no. Your new golf fitness bod is drawing quite a bit of positive attention.

While we’re on the subject of running, there’s another golf fitness benefit. The increased cardiovascular vitality you will develop will reduce your risk of heart related illness. Did you ever think golf fitness would do so
Functional Fitness Training with Fit Balls
...of the ball, with calves perpendicular to the ground, your thighs should be parallel and at 90-100 with your knees and your body weight evenly distributed over both feet. This is your correct postural position. Imagine a straight line starting ...
much for your life?

Put yourself in this position. You get up in the morning. Do your 20 minute workout., then you head to your day job feeling like a million bucks. Why? Working out releases dopamine, the primary pleasure chemical in your brain. You’ll feel awesome every time you work out. Now you’re walking into your office with your perfect posture because you have that insanely strong golf core. You walk with a swagger all day and have the confidence of a rockstar. That’s where golf fitness benefits me the most, not to mention shooting in the low 70s every time out!

These are just some of the benefits you’ll see.
 C.O.G. = Consistency
...be a more consistent swinger of the golf club and therefore a better ball striker, and when put together in the proper sequence, the 1,2,3 golf swing will bring you many years of golfing enjoyment. I draw my philosophies on ...
The list is a long one. Get yourself in shape and improve not only your golf score, but your life score!

 C.O.G. = Consistency
...be a more consistent swinger of the golf club and therefore a better ball striker, and when put together in the proper sequence, the 1,2,3 golf swing will bring you many years of golfing enjoyment. I draw my philosophies on ...
The list is a long one. Get yourself in shape and improve not only your golf score, but your life score!

Core strength is all the buzz in not just golf fitness these days. In fact, there is even a relatively new trend in the world of plastic surgery called abdominal etching. In the course of one procedure (liposculpture - a combination of liposuction and traditional instrument sculpting), a person can attain non-functional six pack abs that resemble the real ones that might take years to achieve in the gym. The emphasis on the superficial aspects of a strong core leads a person to wonder - will core strength be the next fitness fad or are there serious benefits? Increasingly, physicians and therapists seem to be touting the benefits and wondering why the medical community has not focused
 The Future Of Junior Golf
...ability were the main keys to become successful.
From the age of about 3 years old, right after we finish learning to sit, pull up and walk, humans need to make a conscious effort to develop a strong core. A client once reported that a physical therapist had measured his core strength to be about that of a 4 year old. It was not a compliment, needless to say. Core muscles are more complicated to understand than say the quadriceps or biceps. There are layers of muscles within our midsections that overlap and run in different directions. Learning to isolate the core muscles is the first step to conditioning them. For starters, performing a pelvic tilt can help you to identify the muscle that people
Golf Fitness Benefits - How Can Golf Fitness Benefit Other Parts of Your Life
...an example.
Physicians are urging patients that a strong core is key to long term fitness and are recommending core strength training in addition to aerobics for cardiovascular health and weight training for muscle and bone strength. Research indicates that people with strong muscles in their abdomens, buttocks, low back and pelvises are less likely to incur injuries. That is good news for the Baby Boomers who desire to lead active lifestyles into retirement.

The best golf training aid is pretty basic.

But first let us answer a simple question so that we re all reading from the same page.

What makes the best golf training aid? In other words what qualifies it to be the best?

I believe that the fairest answer to that question is that it must be the sort of golf training aid that has the best impact on your golf game. It has to be the sort of equipment that produces the best results in terms of improvement in your golf game over the shortest period of time possible.

Having laid down the ground rules, or made them clear, let me add that there are a number of
Core Strength and Balance in Golf Fitness Training
...strength to be about that of a 4 year old. It was not a compliment, needless to say. Core muscles are more complicated to understand than say the quadriceps or biceps. There are layers of muscles within our midsections that ...
different training products that can qualify to be the best golf training aid. But for the purposes of this article, we will focus on only one.

One of the best golf training aids has to be a weighted club. A weighted club has several advantages that makes it so effective in helping many golfers improve their swing technique and thus their golf game.

To start a weighted club enables a golfer to accomplish or practice two different aspects of their golf swing at the same time. With the limited time most golfers seem to have, this has got to be the most favored plus point that this golf training aid that is contention of being the best has.

Firstly because
 The Future Of Junior Golf
...efforts made. Encouragement and acknowledgement for the efforts your child is making will go far to assure positive and motivated events in your child s life. Susan Hill is a nationally recognized golf fitness trainer and writer for Golf Illustrated, ...
of the additional weight, a golfer is able to exercise and condition the muscles they use for their golf swing. Secondly the weighted club also enables the golfer to work on their swing technique. Right from the set-up to the backswing and follow-through.

Considering what most trainers say is the most common mistake made by poor or bad golfers, the weighted club can go a long way in correcting it. Some experts in golf training say that the most common mistake made on the course is golfers trying to hit the ball as hard as possible. This not only causes tense muscles and the opposite in results, but it can also quite easily result in injury.

A weighted club will
Golf Fitness Benefits - How Can Golf Fitness Benefit Other Parts of Your Life
...an amazing golf fitness resource. - [http://golffitness.whatsurniche.com/]Fitness for Golf I write in this blog every few days which from time to time I like to include some awesome FREE golf tips.
Despite the fact that there are so many different types of equipment, challenging the weighted club for the title of the best golf training aid is not easy.
